What is FIRST Robotics?
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a unique variety sport of mind designed to help high-school aged young people discover how interesting the life of engineers and researchers can be. Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind.
"To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heros" -- Dean Kamen, Founder
About the Team:
Our team was started in 2008. This year will be our 9th year. Our Mentors are Teresa Herndon, Rodney Foster, Lori Foster Dean Craig, Dennis Martens, Debby Pennington, Dana Davis, Doug Mace, Aaron Cox, Gwendolyn Gilmore, and Kenton Brewer. We plan to participate in the Greater Kansas City Regional (March 15 - March 18 2017).
We are a team who likes to have fun but we also can be quite commpetitive come game time. We've done well in the past but we have had an issue with the passing of torches onto younger generations. Seniors would graduate and forget to teach someone what they knew so they could continue their work. This year as well as last we had some complications with our leadership, we almost didn't have a coach for this year before Mister Foster stepped up for the position.
